The DuPage County Fair is set to begin this Wednesday, July 21st. The 5-day fair ends, Sunday, July 25th. If you have never been to the DuPage County Fairgrounds, they are located near DuPage Civic Center and County Courthouse in Wheaton located near County Farm and Manchester roads. Fairground access and parking is available just east of County Farm Road on Manchester.

Today, July 15th, marks the beginning of GroveFest in Downers Grove, IL. The featival is hosted in downtown Downers Grove and runs through the weekend, ending at 10PM on Sunday, July 18th. Naperville was settled in 1831 by Joseph Naper and his brother John. The city was incorporated in 1890. Until the early 1970’s, Naperville was considered to be a far-off, rural Chicago suburb consisting mainly of farms and clusters of neighborhood developments.
The controversy stems from the unapproved use and conversion of the home in West Chicago to a Muslim prayer center. Neighbors of the home are at odds with the leaders of The Islamic Center of the Western Suburbs who see no issue with using the residential property as a religious facility.
Over the years, I have seen the fireworks displays in Naperville, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Warrenville, and Lisle. All have been fairly impressive. Ribfest Naperville is the most anticipated DuPage County summer festival. Over the past 10 years, the festival and venue have continued to grow – so have the crowds. The 19 year-old offender, Quincy Forrester was found guilty of entering the homes of three women and touching their legs while they slept. He was also arrested for a similar offense in Florida.
