The Mill Race Inn has closed in Geneva, IL.

It was recently reported the the Keywester in Naperville had fallen victim to the poor economy. Now, another local landmark restaurant has succumbed to the same fate.

The Mill Race Inn restaurant in Geneva has closed as of this past Sunday. The restaurant, housed in what was once an eighteenth century blacksmith shop along the Fox River in Geneva has been in operation since 1933. The current owners, Charlie Roumeliotis and his son, George, have owned and operated The Mill Race Inn since 2004. They cited the poor economic conditions as the reason for the restaurant’s closure.

The Mill Race Inn has received numerous accolades over the years for providing excellent food and service, but the closing serves as a stark reminder that we are still in the midsts of a tough economy that has businesses struggling to make ends meet.
