Mayor Daley Won’t Seek Re-Election

News is starting to break that our Cook County neighbors to the east may soon be getting a new Chicago mayor.  Mayor Richard M. Daley will not be seeking re-election next year.  Daley has stated that this is a personal decision he has made.

Daley has been Chicago Mayor since his election in 1989.  His current tenure will surpass that of his father’s Richard J. Daley who was in office for 21 years.

What does this mean for Chicago and Cook County?  We’ll have to see in the coming couple of years, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some big changes in order.
