If you are looking for a great off-leash dog park in DuPage County, look no further than the Blackwell Off-Leash Dog Park on Mack Road in Warrenville. The park is a fully fenced, well-maintained, open area for man’s best friend to run about and play with his fellow canine buddies. The park is just east of Route 59 (and the DuPage River) with an entrance and parking available off of Mack Road.
The park has about 30 parking spaces available. The parking is plentiful in the winter months and on less-than-pleasant days. However, the lot can get close to capacity during the weekends and early evenings in summer months.
The park is open from dawn until dusk (as are most DuPage County Forest Preserve properties). There is a cleanup station with bags should you need to clean up after your dog. To be safe, be sure to bring a bag or two of your own as sometimes the bag station can run out. Be sure to acquire a required DuPage County off-leash permit prior to heading to the dog park. PERMITS ARE REQUIRED and penalties can be pretty stiff if you and Fido are caught without one.
More information about the Warrenville Off-Leash dog park (as well as permits and fees) can be found on the on the DuPage County Forest Preserve District’s website.
Here are some photos of the park taken during the much more desirable summer season…
