You probably don’t need me to tell you this, but look around your house and yard. They have arrived in full force. Ants are everywhere right now. I noticed a few strutting there stuff across my kitchen floor. Upon closer inspection, there were many more moving about in search of tasty morsels. I decided to take a closer look around the immediate perimeter of the house and noticed many new ant colonies.
It seems that our recent hot weather conditions have only exacerbated what is already ant season in the DuPage County area. Get to the store and by what you need now (ant dust, baits, etc.) to try to keep the ants from infiltrating your home. Ant control gets much harder once they get in your house. Do your best to keep them outside while you still can.
In the meantime, do your best to keep crumbs and food out of site (not an easy task to do when you have young children). Another thing to be sure of is that you have pet food in a sealed container – ants won’t discriminate between what you and fluffy eats; it’s all food to them.
If you think you have an ant problem that is beyond your control, it may be time to call in a pest control company or exterminator. It’s pretty nasty when you go to the pantry and find scores of ants feasting on your food.
