DuPage County Safety Saturdaywill be held Saturday, September 25th from 10AM – 3PM at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton.
If you have young children and haven’t attended a previous Safety Saturday, you won’t want to miss this event! There is a lot to like about this event – admission is free, it promotes safety, and it’s a fun time! It’s geared to kids and promotes awareness and child safety.
There are a ton of cool exhibits that kids love. In previous years, we saw and climbed into/onto police cars, ATV’s, fire trucks, SWAT tanks, and even watched as an emergency medical helicopter landed. Kids get to interact with policemen and firemen, who are actively passing out tons of goodies including, stickers, Halloween bags, coloring-books and more – all promoting a message of child safety. There are demonstrations performed by public safety personnel too. Last year we had the opportunity to watch the DuPage County SWAT as they rappelled down the side of a building. We also watched as fireman and medical personnel showed their stuff in a mock-accident scene. Still, my favorite thing to do is tour the DuPage County Jail and take photos of my kids ‘locked’ in the cells. Also at Safety Saturday:
- Crime Lab tours
- Child Safety Seat Checks
- K-9 Dogs
- Kids Fingerprinting & DNA Kits
- B.E.R.T. & E.R.N.I.E.
- McGruff the Crime Dog

This event proceeds rain or shine, so hopefully we get some really nice fall weather to enjoy! See you there…
