Herrick Lake in Wheaton to Host Ice Fishing for Beginners

If you are already getting cabin-fever, as I am, here’s a chance to get outside and have some winter fun! This coming Sunday, January 9th, check out “Ice Fishing for Beginners” at Herrick Lake Forest Preserve in Wheaton. As of today, the weather forcast is saying the temperature should be in the middle-20’s – hey, that’s perfect for ice fishing!

The event / class runs from 1PM – 3PM and costs only $5 per person to attend. There is no need to bring any bait or fishing equipment as everything needed will be provided. During this event, you will learn the basics of ice fishing, safety procedures, equipment use, and techniques for ice fishing at any one of DuPage County’s many preserve lakes. Children under 18 must come with an adult.

If you have never been to Herrick Lake, it is one of DuPage County’s finest preserves in my opinion; it’s a very pretty and well-maintained preserve. Herrick Lake is located on the south side of Butterfield Road, one mile west of Naperville Road (and about three miles east of Route 59) in Wheaton. For more information and to register for this event, please call 630-933-7248.

Get the family together, get outside, and enjoy this winter event!
