In recognition of Fire Safety Week, the Glen Ellyn Fire Department will play host to a fire safety open house at the downtown fire station. The station is located at the corner of Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The open house will take place from 10AM – 1PM on Saturday, October 8th.
Over the years, I have seen the fireworks displays in Naperville, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Warrenville, and Lisle. All have been fairly impressive. Santa will be paying a special visit to Kline Creek’s “Christmas on the Farm” celebration on Saturday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 4th. The free event, sponsored by the DuPage County Forest Preserve District will run from 1:30PM to 3:30PM both days. Wheaton will host a Recycling Extravaganza event on Saturday, April 16th from 9AM – 1PM. Not too far west of DuPage County, you’ll find what is touted as the largest water park in Illinois, Raging Waves. I recently took my children there for a short family getaway. Hiding at the back of an industrial park in Warrenville, you’ll find (if you’re lucky) Two Brothers Brewing Company, a micro-brewery and adjoining restaurant and bar. Daley will not be seeking re-election next year. Daley has stated that this is a personal decision he has made. The DuPage Chorale is inviting singers of all ages and voice types to join the group this spring. The DuPage Chorale is a community of amateur and semi-professional singers based at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has closed a portion of Churchill Woods Forest Preserve in Glen Ellyn for a habitat-improvement project.
