On Sunday, June 10th from 8AM to Noon, Blackwell Forest Preserve will host the 26th Annual “Just For Kids Fishing Derby.” If you couldn’t already tell from the name, this event is for kids only (but parents are more than welcome to come along). The fishing derby is for young fishing enthusiasts aged 15 or younger.
Please bring your own rods, reels, and fishing gear; no fishing gear will be provided. Bait is available at the Silver Lake rental building on the south side of the lake (near the boat launch). There is no fee associated with this event; derby entrance is free of charge as well. You must register for this event prior to competing. You can register on the morning of the event or via this link.
Blackwell Forest Preserve is located on the north side of Butterfield Road in Warrenville (just east of Batavia Road). Butterfield Road is undergoing a major construction project at this time, so watch closely for the altered entrance to Blackwell.
